Dear Parents,
Thank you to everyone who took the time to respond to our parent survey, asking for feedback to improve the USA Surfing Prime Series and our Championship events.
What you had to say is extremely important for an accountable, progressive organization to hear and act upon.
As part of my commitment to transparency, accountability and improved communication, we’ve presented the survey results in the link below, and plan to do more of these surveys in the future. These results are also being shared with our Board of Directors and staff in developing an improvement plan.

The results presented above detail the most popular suggestions, but please know there were several other really smart recommendations we are looking to act on.
Some of the improvements require more funding, but many do not. For example, here are a few steps underway:
· Coordination with WSL and other event organizers about working together to schedule events, avoid conflicting dates and to release our schedule for next season earlier.
· Working with International Surfing Association (ISA) leadership to look into ways to train, certify and support more high-quality judging distributed geographically and demographically.
· Meeting with livescoring platforms to see what can be done to support more livestreamed events.
· Reminding all staff and contractors of the Code of Conduct and Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention policies they signed as a condition of employment and enforcing those policies.
· Completed interviews with ISA World Junior Championship coach candidates and developed criteria for the 2022 ISA World Junior team. We are finalizing and will share that information soon.
Also please see the addendum below with links to the regional organizations’ descriptions for how to qualify for USA Surfing’s Prime Series and USA Surfing’s explanation on how to qualify for Championships. We will do a better job communicating this information early and often.
Other excellent and necessary suggestions will require funding. I am talking to several partners and sponsors who are excited about supporting USA Surfing’s mission. We will be announcing those supporters in the next few weeks.
Success requires earning and keeping your trust. I fully embrace that responsibility. Anytime something happens that is contrary to the best interests of a USA Surfing event or any participant, we want to know about it and deal with it immediately. Ultimately it falls on USA Surfing to be accountable, responsive and open to make our events the very best overall experience we possibly can. Your responses are an important step in that direction.
I am serious about making USA Surfing programs the best possible experience, empowering future generations of champions, and advancing the stoke and benefit of the surfing lifestyle.
